【South East Asia Nation of Buddhism Tour】

Xishuangbanna, China → Siem Reap and Phnom Penh in Cambodia → Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Thailand, Yangon and Bagan in Myanmar

The mainland of Southeast Asia sparkles with Buddha’s glory. Except for Malaysia, countries on this vast land are dominated by Buddhism, with Singapore and Vietnam dominated by Mahayana Buddhism originated from China, and Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Xishuangbanna of Yunnan, China dominated by Theravada Buddhism. In these Theravada Buddhist countries, stupas can be seen everywhere. The glamorous pagodas attract many tourists. Monks wearing orange and red kasaya walk through streets and lanes receiving dana from the public. In these countries, most of the males will “pabbajja” (to answer the call to Buddhist Monkhood) to become monks for a while. You can see that Buddhism is genuinely part of the locals’ lives. The journey in these Buddhist nations will be your pursuit of inner peace and a rich soul.

Day 1 Hong Kong —— Kunming —— Xishuangbanna
Morning - Afternoon:

Direct flight from Hong Kong to Kunming, Yunnan. Then, transit to a domestic flight to Jinghong, capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture.

Night:

Enjoy Dai delicacies, such as five spices roasted carp, Dai lemon chicken and Dai barbecued pack.

Day 2 Xishuangbanna
Morning:

Visit the Mengle Dafo Temple rebuilt on the Jingpiao Buddhist Temple, the royal temple of Dai Kingdom.

Afternoon:

Head to the Xishuangbanna Dai Nationality Garden and visit the Dai village where you can enjoy Dai dance. Experience the joy of Songkran at Songkran Plaza.

Night:

Enjoy barbecue and Dai cuisine inside the park and stay overnight at Dai houses.

Day 3 Xishuangbanna —— Siem Reap, Cambodia
Morning:

Head to the ancient Dai Royal Garden Manting Park, the oldest park in Xishuangbanna, to feel the Dai and Buddhist culture.

Afternoon:

Enjoy lunch at Jinghong city centre and get ready for the flight back to Kunming.

Night:

Direct flight from Kunming to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Day 4 Siem Reap
Morning - Afternoon:

Head to Angkor and visit Angkor Wat, the largest temple in the world, and the temples and heritages inside.

Night:

Enjoy local delicacies in Angkor Night Market and buy souvenirs at Siem Reap Art Centre Night Market. Take the overnight sleeper coach to Phnom Penh.

Day 5 Phnom Penh
Morning:

After arriving at Phnom Penh, enjoy Cambodian style bánh mì, sour soup and Khmer red curry. Then, head to the Central Market and admire how well the French architecture and Cambodian market is blended.

Afternoon:

Arrive at the Royal Palace of Cambodia to visit the Silver Pagoda. Enjoy the view of the sparkling Royal Palace at sunset.

Night:

Enjoy local delicacies at the Phnom Penh Night Market and buy souvenirs.

Day 6 Phnom Penh —— Bangkok, Thailand
Morning:

Walk up to Wat Phnom at the centre of Phnom Penh to visit the four little Buddha statues inside.

Afternoon:

Direct flight from Phnom Penh to Bangkok, Thailand. After arriving at the city, head to Maeklong Railway Market and see how trading works on railway track. Worship Phra Phrom at the little shrine near Central World.

Night:

Visit different night markets in the city and experience Thai delicacies and nightlife.

Day 7 Bangkok —— Chiang Mai
Morning:

Head to the Grand Palace and visit the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to continue the cultural journey of Theravada.

Afternoon:

Arrive at Wat Arun before evening, and capture the view of the Grand Palace across the river under sunset at the observation deck.

Night:

Direct flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

Day 8 Chiang Mai
Morning - Afternoon:

Join the local 1-day tour for Black Temple, White Temple and Blue Temple, and also the Kayan long neck village at North Thailand.

Night:

Enjoy dinner at the Chiang Mai night market or Nimman Road. Stroll along the river to feel the old town.

Day 9 Chiang Mai —— Yangon, Myanmar
Morning:

Direct flight from Chiang Mai to Yangon, Myanmar, to continue the Theravada cultural journey. Enjoy Mohinga, the traditional Burmese noodle soup when arriving at the city. Then head to Shwedagon Pagoda and Kandawgyi Lake.

Afternoon:
Night:

Stroll around Yangon Chinatown to enjoy the vibrant night and Burmese delicacies.

Day 10 Yagan —— Bagan
Morning - Afternoon:

Direct flight from Yangon to Bagan. Then, set off to the Bagan Plains directly and enjoy the marvellous view with 2,000 pagodas there. You can also ride on a hot air balloon and enjoy from top the beautiful view and sunset.

Night:

Back to the city centre in New Bagan, taste traditional Burmese cuisine.

Day 11 Bagan —— Yangon —— Hong Kong
Morning:

Direct flight from Bagan to Yangon to take the flight back to Hong Kong. It marks the end of the Southeast Asia Nation of Buddhism Tour.
