The five countries in Central Asia all have names ending with the suffix "-stan", meaning "land of". They, once being part of the Soviet Union, share the nomadic cultures. Four of the Central Asian countries are Turkic, which share the same root with the Uighur in Xinjiang, China. One of the main routes of the Silk Road travelled through these Central Asian countries.
