【Central Asia - The Silk Road Tour】

Ürümqi, Xinjiang ,China→ Nursultan and Almaty, Kazakhstan→Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan →Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, Uzbekistan→Dushanbe, Tajikistan→ Kashgar, Xinjiang, China

The five countries in Central Asia all have names ending with the suffix "-stan", meaning "land of". They, once being part of the Soviet Union, share the nomadic cultures. Four of the Central Asian countries are Turkic, which share the same root with the Uighur in Xinjiang, China. One of the main routes of the Silk Road travelled through these Central Asian countries. Let’s set off in Xinjiang to experience the nomadic cultures and the sparkling civilisations on the Central Asian journey.

Day 1 Hong Kong——Ürümqi, Xinjiang
Morning - Afternoon:

Flight from Hong Kong to Ürümqi, Xinjiang.

Night:

Enjoy Uygur gourmet at the night market of Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar.

Day 2 Ürümqi——Nursultan, Kazakhstan——Almaty
Morning:

Take the flight (around 3 hours) or the international sleeper train (around 40 hours) from Ürümqi to Nursultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. Beautiful scenery of North of Xinjiang can be enjoyed on the train journey. After arriving at the capital city, visit the Hazrat Sultan Mosque.

Night:

Have a nice meal of local cuisine at the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Centre and embrace the glamourous night view of the city. After that, take the sleeper train to Almaty at night.

Day 3 Almaty
Morning:

Visit the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen and to celebrate the architectural beauty of the Ascension Cathedral.

Afternoon:

Visit the Central State Museum of Kazakhstan. After that, head to the Zelyoniy Bazaar to observe the lives of the locals.

Night:

Try out local dishes in downtown.

Day 4 Almaty—— Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Morning:

Enjoy the beauty of garden at the First President Park. After that, head to the Kok Tobe to admire the city view.

Afternoon:

Skate at the Olympic-level Medeu Mountain Skating Rink to enjoy the coolness on the ice.

Night:

Set off for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, after having dinner of local gourmet.

Day 5 Bishkek.
Morning :

To be “welcomed” by the Statue of Mikhail Frunze in front of the railway station and learn more about the story of this Soviet military leader of Bishkek.

Afternoon:

Visit the Ala-Too Square in the city centre. After that, stroll around the Chuy Prospekti.

Night:

Enjoy an opera or ballet performance at the Bishkek Kyrgyz Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Day 6 Bishkek——Tashkent, Uzbekistan——Samarkand
Morning:

Take the flight to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. After arrival, visit the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan and the Amir Timur Museum to learn more about the glorious history of the country.

Afternoon:

Shop at the Chorsu Bazaar to experience the local lives. Then, celebrate the fascinating architectural beauty of the Kukeldash Madrasah. After that, witness the oldest Quran in the world at the Telyashayakh Mosque.

Night:

Take the train to Samarkand after having dinner of local dishes at the traditional restaurant in the old town.

Day 7 Samarkand
Morning:

Visit the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum (Mausoleum of Timur), the Registan and the buildings nearby.

Afternoon:

Visit the Bibi-Khanym Mosque and the Shah-i-Zinda.

Night:

Enjoy the Uzbek gourmet for dinner in the old town.

Day 8 Samarkand——Bukhara——Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Morning:

Take the flight from Samarkand to Bukhara. After arrival, visit the Ark of Bukhara.

Afternoon:

Visit the Poi Kalyan Complex and the Ulugbeg Islam Theological Madrasah to learn about the importance of Bukhara as a cultural centre in Central Asia.

Night:

Take the flight from Bukhara to Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Have a dinner of local cuisine there.

Day 9 Dushanbe, Tajikistan——Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Morning:

Visit the Tajikistan National Museum to learn more about the history of the country.

Afternoon:

Visit the second tallest flagpole in the world in front of the Palace of Nations (also known as the White House). After that, visit the Ismaili Centre.

Night:

After shopping and sightseeing at the lively Rudaki Avenue, take the flight to Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Day 10 Kashgar, Xinjiang——Hong Kong
Morning:

Visit the unique Livestock Bazaar and the Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in Xinjiang.

Afternoon:

Visit the Afaq Khoja Mausoleum to learn more about the relation between China and the Islamic world. After that, head to the Kashgar's old city, where the movie The Kite Runner was shot.

Night:

Enjoy gourmet such as local barbecue and Pilaf at the night market before flying back to Hong Kong.
